For weeks we’ve been wrapped up in our cocoon with our noses pressed against the cold, sometimes icy window. Waiting. Waiting to be invited.
Last night the invitation came. It came in the form of a warm sun and a cool breeze. It beckoned us and welcomed us back. We embraced like a long lost friend.
After the blanket of snow that had covered her, we tidied up a bit and prepared for our season. We cleared the debris of a long winters nap and we fancied things up with a peony or two.
Then with the sound of the mower as a backdrop, the kids ran to the dock, tackle boxes jingling the chorus and their laughter and banter singing along.
She rewarded us with a record bluegill for the girl and a tie for the record bass for dude. The season opener of PondLife embraced us and rewarded us like a long lost friend.
Back inside, the mood was light and happy and familiar. We snuggled in our beds a little more tired and with a deep sigh that the season has begun. Our season, the season of the sun and the water and the happiness of PondLife.
